Abstrak

Purpose: The study aims to evaluate the use of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) as a corporate growth strategy of Tata Consumer Products Limited (TCPL), changes in financial performance post M&A and sustainability based on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) aspects.

Method: The study is qualitative descriptive based on a literature review. Data were obtained from TCPL’s annual reports for the years 2022–2025 and 20 journal publications on M&A, financial performance, sustainability, and ESG in India. The information was analyzed on the basis of M&A transactions, performance changes and ESG aspects.

Findings: The results analyzed in the research show that TCPL’s M&A strategy helped to expand the scope of the business and increase the company’s revenue, but at the expense of the short-term decline in profitability. Further, post M&A integration resulted in restructuring of organizational governance and alignment of consolidated environmental and social reporting.

Implications: M&A requires effective integration, where business growth translates to synergies and sustainable profitability.

Originality: M&A, financial performance and TCPL sustainability on the basis of ESG aspects.
